MEC Max Raises Concerns as Another SA Roadlink Bus is Taken Off the Road

4 September 2009
The MEC for Community Safety, Adv. Lennit Max, expresses his deep concerns on the news that another SA Roadlink bus was pulled off the N1 near the Hugenot tunnel on Friday evening.

Max said the fact that the bus was found to be under suspension and did not have an operating licence raises the alarm as the lives of its passengers were at great risk.
Such an incident also inconvenience many passengers.

Traffic law enforcement will not deter from taking any bus from the road that does not have the necessary licences or adhere to road safety measures as it continues to put the lives of passengers as well as other road users in danger.

He called for the management of the SA Road Link bus company to get its house in order, as this company has, since a tragic bus accident on the 7th of July near Beaufort West, a poor track record on Western Cape roads.

Max will now discuss this public transport matter as a matter of urgency with Mr. Robin Carlisle, MEC for Transport and Public Works.
