Minister Marais mourns the death of Neighbourhood Watch member

9 September 2024

Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety Anroux Marais has offered her condolences to the family, friends and Neighbourhood Watch colleagues of Clinton Treu, who was killed in Elsies River in the early hours of Sunday morning. Mr Treu was shot and killed in an attempted car hijacking.

“I mourn the death of Clinton, and I salute him as a committed Neighbourhood Watch member.  The Western Cape is poorer, and Elsies River a more dangerous place, without him. I plan to visit Clinton’s loved ones soon. I call on the public to assist in apprehending his killers. Together, we can beat crime in the Western Cape. Let that be our commitment, in the loving memory of what Clinton stood for,” Minister Marais said.
