Media Alert:Life Counts: Minister Plato hosts 2000 youths for Youth Month launch

Tomorrow, Saturday 9 June 2018, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, and the Department of Community Safety will host more than 2000 youths from across the province to launch the Department’s “Life Counts” programme as part of Youth Month celebrations.

Youth from more than 50 communities, including areas as far as George, Beaufort West, Merweville, Robertson, Worcester and Saldanha, will gather at Athlone Stadium for the launch of the “Life Counts” programme which will see youth empowerment activities and events be run for participating youth in their own communities going forward.

The launch event in Athlone will include motivational and guest speakers as well as entertainment for and by youth participants.

The Department of Community Safety continues in its mission to reach our youth residents in the province through targeted intervention and strategic partnerships in communities and will be supported this weekend by the South African Police Service, Municipal representatives, Community Policing Forums, Neighbourhood Watches, Walking Busses, Religious Fraternity, non-governmental organisations, the Chrysalis Academy and other governmental departments.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.
