Minister Plato hosts Da Gamaskop cluster PNP Consultation Session

Over the next two days, Wednesday 13 July 2016 and Thursday 14 July 2016, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, will host the Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) consultation session for the Da Gamaskop policing clusters in Mossel Bay.

The Southern Cape leg of the PNP consultation sessions bring about the halfway mark for the 2016 Policing Needs and Priorities process in the province which will see the Department of Community Safety holding public consultation sessions for each of the 16 police clusters between May and October this year.

A key feature of the 2016/17 PNP process will be the extensive training provided to Neighbourhood Watches and Community Policing Forums – the pulse of citizen-led safety interventions in our communities.

The PNP engagement takes the format of a two-day consultative workshop and will include representatives of the South African Police Service (SAPS), Municipalities, Community Police Forums (CPFs), Community Safety Forums (CSF), non-governmental organisations, community based organisations, faith based organisations, Neighbourhood Watches (NHW), and other local safety stakeholders.

The Da Gamaskop PNP consultation provides the communities of Albertinia, Barrydale, Da Gamaskop, Goroot Brakrivier, Heidelberg, Kwanonqaba, Mossel Bay, Riversdale, Still Bay, Suurbraak and Swellendam a chance to raise their safety concerns and contribute to the updating of the relevant Safety Plan for their community.
