Chrysalis Academy – Precautionary Evacuation, Property Undamaged

4 March 2015

On Tuesday, 3 March 2015, at 19:00 the Western Cape Department of Community safety evacuated staff and students at the Chrysalis Academy, as fires spread towards the Tokai area yesterday. Staff and students were evacuated shortly after 7pm as a precautionary measure.  The academy is situated in Tokai Road, below the Elephant’s Eye cave. Contrary to some incorrect media reports this morning, there is at this stage, no significant damage to the property.  The academy reports that the students are safe and are doing well.

The Academy thanks those members of the public who have donated food and water for the staff and students and has asked that should anyone else want to contribute they are welcome to drop off any goods at the security gate on the premises or alternatively contact Ms Lucille Meyer on 076 380 0411 or Ms Desiree English on 076 77 66 115 to make other arrangements. All donations are highly appreciated.
