Minister Plato to Host Open-Air Safety Talks in Stellenbosch

20 May 2014

Today, Tuesday, 20 May 2014, Dan Plato, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, will host an open-air safety talk in Stellenbosch following a spate of violent hijackings in the area.

On Thursday last week Minister Plato expressed his concern at the lack of arrests following a number of hijackings in Stellenbosch, at least one of which involved a gang rape. Following the number of hijackings and reports of another incident involving a stabbing, Minister Plato has called for urgent safety talks with all role-players, including students.

Minister Plato and the safety delegation will do a walk-about to view the areas in which the incidents took place as well as the surrounding area.

Note: All media are invited to attend.
