Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital Takes a Stand Against Fraudulent Fundraising

13 October 2010

It has been brought to hospital management's attention that a number of people have been fundraising fraudulently under the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital name - some of them from as far away as KwaZulu-Natal.

The Children's Hospital Trust, Hospital Facility Board and Friends of the Red Cross Children's Hospital Association are allowed by law to fundraise on behalf of Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital (RCWMCH). Any fundraising requests, on behalf of the hospital, will be on an official letterhead and will be accompanied by an authorisation letter.

Sadly during the build up to the festive season, there is usually a marked increase in fraudulent fundraising and if con artists approach you for donations, please report their activities to the police. If you are in doubt about the validity of requests, call the Children's Hospital Trust on 021 686 7860, the Hospital Facility Board on 021 658 5027, the Friends of the Children's Hospital Association on 021 658 5453 or the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital on 021 658 5448.
