Update: Old Paarl Road Motor Vehicle Accident

The Provincial Western Cape Department of Health: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident earlier this morning.

Old Paarl Road, Stikland (opposite the Provincial Stikland Hospital) at 07:18: In a collision between a minibus taxi and a car, which led to a secondary accident when two other private vehicles crashed into the first accident, two females were declared dead on arrival and 17 survivors have been transported to various health institutions. Patients sustained serious head and pelvic injuries, leg fractures and burns. They have been treated and transported by DoH: EMS, AMS and ER24 paramedics and medical practitioners to the provincial GF Jooste, Groote Schuur and Tygerberg hospitals, as well as Kuils River Medi Clinic and Eerste River CHC.

DoH: EMS and ER24 responded to the call, dispatching five land ambulances and two air ambulances (AMS and ER24 Chopper) to the scene.
