Media Alert: EMS Responds to Mountain Call

Western Cape Government Health's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a mountain rescue call earlier today.

At 09:50 near Africa Face, Table Mountain (lower contour) - EMS Medical Rescuers and Rescue Paramedics rescued a 35 year old male "base jumper" after he suffered possible neck and lower right leg injuries. The AMS Rescue Helicopter was activated and the patient was located near the foot of the right face (Africa Face near the India Venster Hiking path) on the mountain. Two EMS Rescue Paramedics were lowered down to the patient. They packaged him into a specialised stretcher and he was airlifted to the Tafelberg Road parking. He was then placed into the EMS land ambulance and transported to the Chris Barnaard Hospital. The rescue was completed at 11:15.
