Riviersonderend Mountains, 23h00 – WCG Health: EMS Rescue responded to a mountain call because a group of fourteen (14) children from the area, did not return home after spending a day in the mountains swimming and hiking. According to the EMS Rescue Incident Commander, Egnall Brown, a mother of one of the missing children phoned the local SAPs station at 23h00 on Sunday night, to complain that her child had not returned home. EMS rescue coordinated a response rescue team (4 x EMS Rescuers, 2 x SAPs and 1 x local farmer) to set up camp and search for the missing party. Unfortunately the team was not able to locate the party and this morning (Monday 7 January 2012) the AMS Rescue Helicopter was activated to complete an aerial search of the mountains. At 07h40, the children were found and short hauled back to Riviersonderend.
