Media Alert: Accident on the N2, near Grabouw

On Tuesday, 27 July 2010, a motor vehicle accident involving four vehicles occurred on the N2, near the Leibonon turn off in Grabouw, around 07h40am. According to Metro Rescue Services, one female was fatally injured and four are in a critical condition in Vergelegen Medic-Clinic in Somerset West.

The four vehicles involved in the accident were a Kia van, Toyota Condor, Toyota Yaris and a Golf 5. The Condor was transporting six people of which one female was declared dead on arrival. Two occupants are in a critical condition and were transported to Vergelegen Medic-Clinic. Three occupants were treated at the scene.

The Kia transported eleven passengers of which two are in a critical condition and two injured, others were treated at the scene. An eight year old girl was air lifted to Vergelegen Medi-Clinic.

Metro Rescue Emergency Services arrived on scene with two technical support crews, the Jaws of Life and six ambulance vehicles.
