Motor Vehicle Accident on the N7

12 August 2010

Following an accident this morning on the N7, one male driver was declared dead on arrival and another male passenger is in a critical condition after a motor vehicle collision, before the Philadelphia turn off around 07h40 (August 13, 2010).

According to Metro Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Rescue technicians on the scene, a horse and trailer truck collided with an oncoming Nissan van and a Nissan 4x4 while attempting to turn onto the N7 towards Malmesbury. Weather conditions were very misty, obscuring visibility in the area.

The driver of the Nissan van was declared dead on arrival while the passenger is in a critical condition. The Fire Department extricated the critical patient while Metro EMS Rescue removed the driver of the vehicle with the Jaws of Life.

Metro EMS Rescue received the call at 07h42 and arrived on scene at 08h20 with full technical support and ambulance, delayed because of the weather conditions. The critical passenger was airlifted to Milnerton Medi-Clinic by Netcare 911. Passengers in the Nissan 4x4 are in stable condition.
