Get vaxxed and relax at Sea Point Promenade and Mnandi Beach this weekend

19 January 2023

The most effective way for us to reduce the risk of COVID-19 is to be up-to-date with our vaccinations and boosters. What better way to ease into the new year than to be vaxxed and relaxed with the Vaxi Taxi this weekend.

On Saturday (21 January 2023) at the Sea Point Promenade, children 12 years and older with the necessary parental consent who are vaccinated on the day, will automatically get a 30-minute gaming experience. The game arena provides endless entertainment for children of all ages, consisting of three 4K television sets with Play Station consoles. This air-conditioned arena will provide a space for young people to have fun together in a controlled and safe setting.

On Sunday (22 January 2023) at Mnandi Beach near Mitchells Plain, whether it is your COVID-19 vaccine or booster, the Vaxi Taxi team will be there to meet you halfway, so don’t delay! There’s light at the end of the tunnel, but we’re not there yet. Vaccination remains available and is proven to be our best defence against the current variant and sub-variant. Let’s keep it that way. By being vaccinated, we prevent chances of the virus from mutating.

“We are excited to kickstart the year by making vaccination accessible for all residents, whether this is at the healthcare facility, mobile vaccination site, or in public spaces. This weekend, we are appealing again to all eligible persons to get vaxxed and relaxed with the Vaxi Taxi, which has to date administered 1 174 COVID-19 vaccines at beaches, campuses and malls. Remember to bring your ID, and should you want your teenager under 18 to be vaccinated this weekend, that you accompany them and provide the necessary consent,” says Dr Hilary Goeiman, Western Cape COVID-19 Project Office Lead.
