Western Cape Government Health mourns tragic loss of two EMS officers in crash

18 September 2022

Western Cape Government Health is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of two EMS officers early Sunday morning in a collision on the Ceres/Wolseley road. We extend our deepest sympathy to their loved ones, family, friends, and colleagues.

“I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of two of our EMS paramedics who died while on duty. This is an immense loss to the Department and their families,” says Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, Minister of Western Cape Health.

We can confirm that the ambulance was not transporting a patient at the time of the accident.

Minister Mbombo and Premier Alan Winde will be visiting the EMS office in Witzenberg on Monday, 19 September 2022.

We thank the Witzenberg community for supporting the EMS service during this traumatic time and for their understanding of the loss to the health system.
