Karl Bremer Hospital health heroes appreciated for going the extra mile

3 February 2021

As healthcare workers prepare to rollout vaccines and continue the fight against COVID-19, they’ve been thanked for working around the clock.

Hospital Heroes partnered with Gift of the Givers to donate refreshments to healthcare workers at Karl Bremer Hospital on Wednesday, 3 February 2021.

Refreshments included cooldrinks, koeksisters and other snacks. Dr Zameer Brey, from the movement Hospital Heroes, says they want health workers to know that they’re not alone in the fight against COVID-19.

“We just want to say thank you to the staff for doing their best, often under stressful circumstances. They go the extra mile, and we want to thank them. This is something from the community and everyone to our health workers to say that we care about them and that we recognise the work they’re doing. We know you’re doing a great job; hang in there. We will continue to support you as best we can.”

Karl Bremer Hospital management has welcomed the donation and thanked the organisations for their generosity. Hospital Heroes and Gift of the Givers have made similar donations to other hospitals around the city. Western Cape Government Health thanks the groups for their support.

We encourage the public to help us fight COVID-19. Remember to wear your mask, wash your hands regularly, keep a distance of 1.5 m from others and stay home when you’re sick.
