Media Alert: EMS Rescue Calls - 9 November 2011

Western Cape Government Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a major incident last night.

At 18:24 on the R44, Stellenbosch - EMS transported 47 patients to the local Heatherbank and Stellenbosch hospitals after a private bus carrying farm workers landed on its side. The bus was transporting 57 passengers from a Stellenbosch farm to their homes in Khayelitsha. Of the 47 patients, 19 sustained serious injuries (predominantly to the legs) and 28 patients suffered minor injuries. No fatalities occurred.

Western Cape Government Health EMS ambulances and ER24 transported the patients. EMS practitioners left the scene at 20:30.
