Expression of Appreciation to Sponsors for Tygerberg Hospital Ward Upgrade

10 November 2011

Tygerberg Hospital unveiled a plaque this morning to express appreciation to the various sponsors who came on board to renovate A6, a cardiac ward. This ward, where patients with heart failures and heart attacks are admitted, underwent renovations to make the ward more comfortable and relaxing in order to improve the overall patient experience at the hospital.

The cardiac patients of A6 had plenty to say about the newly renovated ward. According to Nico Coetzee, a 35-year-old patient from Malmesbury, said, "I wish that all the wards at Tygerberg Hospital could look as good as A6." He also finds the rooms to be refreshing and he feels honoured as a patient to be in such an environment.

Pillay Chinisamy is a 65-year-old patient from Ravensmead and has been a patient at A6 for the past three years. Pillay says, "The rooms are beautiful and more presentable. There is now a vast difference in the ward compared to three years ago." He also finds the newly renovated ward to be up to standard.

Johanna Britz, a 55-year-old from Strand, has made the newly renovated A6 ward her second home. Johanna even has a resting corner next to her bed where she reads magazines and books.

Edward Williams from Bishop Lavis has been a patient at A6 for the past 17 years. According to Edward, the newly renovated ward is cleaner and more homely as compared to before.
