Media Alert: Cape Winelands and George EMS Paediatric Ambulances Upgraded

13 November 2011

On 14 November and 12 December 2011, the Children's Hospital Trust will hand over two fully equipped paediatric ambulances to Western Cape Government Health's Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The Cape Winelands and George Neonatal ambulances are two of four paediatric ambulances furnished by the Children's Hospital Trust, an initiative to meet EMS annual objectives of expanding and improving neonatal medical emergency service delivery. The ambulances will be the first of their kind in the Cape Winelands and Eden districts; previously, EMS worked with one neonatal ambulance based in the city.

The two ambulances have been designated to Worcester and George hospitals as the health facilities play an important role in the region, providing paediatric units and meeting millennium goal objectives to provide superior service for the care of mothers and children.
