Emergency Medical Calls - 30 November 2011

Western Cape Government Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to three rescues today.

At 10:20 above the Block House on Table Mountain - A 29-year-old female broke her ankle after she slipped and fell while hiking down the mountain. Eleven EMS and SANParks rescuers responded to the call. EMS activated the Air Mercy Service Rescue Chopper. The patient was packaged into a stretcher and hoisted into the aircraft. She was then airlifted to New Somerset Hospital.

At 13:50 on Strand Road, Bellville, near the R300 - In a collision between a car and a truck, EMS rescue technicians and medical practitioners were in attendance. The adult male patient sustained serious bruises to his body and was transported by ER24 to a nearby health facility.

At 13:10 near Maclears Beacon on Table Mountain - A group of EMS and SANParks rescuers are currently assisting in rescue. Update to follow.
