George Hospital Celebrates World Radiography Day
Radiographers and students from the South Cape Karoo region celebrated World Radiography Day at George Hospital on Saturday, 3 December 2011.
Practitioners all over the world commemorated the discovery of X-rays by Professor Wilhelm Roentgen on 8 November 1895. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness about the profession, stimulate interest in Radiography as a career and also address the shortage of these professionals in South Africa.
The celebration allowed radiographers to meet, share best practices, their experiences and to keep in touch with each other.
Topics discussed at George Hospital's World Radiography Day included the history of X-rays, living in an age of diversity, ergonomics and case studies presented by Radiography students.
