Minister Carlisle to Award R25 000 to Second Road Safety Reward Winner

6 March 2013

Robin Carlisle, Minister of Transport and Public Works will award R25 000 to the second winner of the Safely Home Road Safety Reward Campaign on 6 March 2013.

The Campaign, launched on 17 December 2012, is aimed at rewarding motorists for good behaviour on our roads over the festive season. The initiative is part of a behavioural economics technique aimed at establishing a culture of obeying road rules by promoting an identity of responsible road users.

The Western Cape Government offered a cash opportunity to vehicle owners and drivers who remain fine-free over the festive season, measured from the beginning of December to the end of January.

Two cash prizes of R25 000 were on offer to qualifying drivers, drawn at random, from motorists with their vehicles registered in the province.

All motorists in the province were automatically entered into the draw, and both winners were drawn from those who meet set criteria and ensured that their details on the National Traffic Information System (eNaTiS) are correct and up to date.

The second winner was drawn on 21 January 2013 when Mr Cupido (the first winner) was awarded his R25 000 prize.

More information, as well as terms and conditions, can be found on Safely Home's website.
