R10 Million for Bursaries in 2006

28 August 2005

The Human Resource Development Unit of the Provincial Department of Transport and Public Works has announced that more than 200 bursaries to the value of R10 million will be made available next year.

According to Jacques van Eeden and Barenese Petersen who represented the Department of Transport and Public Works at the Learning Cape Expo, they are interested in young people who want to study in the scarce-skills professions such as architecture, quantity surveying, engineering (civil, mechanical and electrical), transport economy, town planning and construction management. "These professions are needed in the construction industry to boost our ikapa elihlumayo initiative" they said. Similar expos are being held across the Western Cape to boost a learning culture amongst the young generation.
