New Secondary Schools Ready for 2006

12 December 2005

Francois Joubert and his Works Education project team are accelerating delivery of secondary schools in Blue Downs, Mfuleni, Masiphumelele, Nomsamo and Table View. R52 million has been invested to improve the education infrastructure in these communities.

"We are hoping to see these schools completed and ready for the new school year in January 2006" says Joubert. Project Co-ordinator Rainer Backeberg, believes the project will change the lives of at least 6000 children.

While a large reputable contractor has been retained to build the schools, half of the unskilled labour force used in the project was from the local communities themselves.
