Minister Carlisle Urges Class of 2010 to Celebrate Responsibly

5 January 2011

Minister of Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle joined the rest of the province in congratulating the Western Cape Matric Class of 2010 for their resounding success.

In applauding the more than thirty-five thousand (35 000) young people who passed matric this year, Minister Carlisle urged them to celebrate their achievements responsibly and not to drink and drive under any circumstances.

Congratulations on a job well done and making the province proud. You conquered adversity to pass. Celebrate your achievements responsibly. Don't drink and drive.

Bear in mind that whether you got nine A's or are going to university, whether you are facing supps or an apprenticeship, or straight into the job market. A new world is opening to you and the last thing you need is a conviction for drunk driving, particularly if you kill or injure someone in the process.

In conclusion, Minister Carlisle emphasised that the provincial government is intensifying its fight against drunk driving in 2011.
