Replacement school for Woodlands Primary update

15 July 2020

The Department of Transport and Public Works achieved completion on Section 1 (majority of the building work) on a  R47 million project to build the new Woodlands Primary School in Heideveld. Section 2 will commence shortly as decanting is complete and the mobiles have been removed. All that remains is the sports field and the upgrade of an existing building. This should take 2 months.

The Department started this project in April 2018 and is expected to be completed in March 2020, if everything goes according to plan. The school will provide accommodation for 930 learners.

Learners are currently housed in temporary classrooms. During Phase 1, the classrooms and administrative building are being built. External works, landscaping and the school hall will be undertaken in Phase 2.

  • Three Grade R classrooms,
  • Nine foundation phase classrooms,
  • Nine intermediate phase classrooms,
  • Three senior classrooms,
  • One science laboratory,
  • One multipurpose room,
  • One computer room,
  • A multimedia centre, and
