Media Alert: Minister Carlisle Awaits Judgement on Drager in Cape High Court

7 September 2011

The Cape High Court will hand down judgement in the case of Clifford Joseph Hendricks tomorrow. Hendricks is accused of driving while over the legal limit for breath alcohol.

Tomorrow's verdict hinges on whether or not the court rules that results from a Drager breathalyser, like the one used to test Hendricks, can be used to convict drunk drivers.

"One way or another, tomorrow will be a critical point in the fight against drunk driving in the Western Cape, and in South Africa as a whole," said Minister Robin Carlisle.

"Our Safely Home team and the entire road safety community awaits the outcome with a mixture of trepidation and hope."
