COVID-19: Minister Madikizela to launch taxi sanitization

As a prevention measure and to protect commuters from the spread of the Coronavirus, Western Cape Transport and Public Works Minister, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will visit Cape Town and George tomorrow, Monday 23 March 2020 to implement safety measures at taxi ranks and bus depots.

In Cape Town, Minister Madikizela together with SANTACO will launch the cleaning and sanitization campaign at the Cape Town taxi rank in the CBD.

The Minister met with the taxi industry last week and the industry agreed to undertake safety measures which include cleaning and sanitizing taxi ranks and taxis as of Monday

Following the roll-out of Go George Phase 4B today, Minister Madikizela will visit George in the afternoon to view COVID-19 virus mitigations and inspect the roll-out. The event will include a tour at the Integrated Public Transport Network depot and a bus ride.
