Go George Update

The Ministry of Transport has again met with the Western Cape Transport Department and the George Municipality, to discuss the George Integrated Transport Network.

The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to find solutions to the issues that impede the full-scale implementation of Go George Phase Four.

Today’s (10 October 2019) deliberations explored grievances raised by UNCEDO Taxi Association and the George Community Forum in previous engagements. Complaints relate to procurement processes, competition, compensation, infrastructure development and economic opportunities.

Broader discussions between the three spheres of government and key stakeholders are at a sensitive stage but are progressing steadily.

Officials from national, provincial and local government are united in their optimism that an amicable solution will be found.
