N7 Malmesbury – Alternative route between Bokomo and Darling Road

31 July 2018

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) would like to inform the public of alternative routes to accommodate traffic between Bokomo and Darling Roads in Malmesbury.

The detour, which comes into place this week, involves rerouting traffic onto the new on- and off-ramps. Bokomo/Darling Road will be closed for approximately 6 months, to facilitate safe construction on the new bridge. However, the team aims to have the road open to traffic over the December holidays.

The detour is not likely to increase the travel time by more than 5 minutes, so should not require major adjustments in travel time by motorists. Pedestrians will be accommodated as part of the construction and clear pathways will be demarcated.

“We do urge motorists to be on the look-out for pedestrians and to adhere to speed restrictions and directional signage at all times,” said Randall Cable, SANRAL’s Western Region Manager.
