The roadworks project in Saldanha Bay will consist of a roundabout at the intersection with the Vredenburg road, a bridge over the railway line, and a new road with a single lane in each direction. This new road could in future become the east-bound carriageway of a dual carriageway. In addition, a short section of Camp Street will be re-aligned.
The contract was awarded in December 2016 and is approximately 18 months. The anticipated completion date is November 2018.
Traffic will be accommodated on the existing road (Camp Street) and on temporary deviations. At certain times, signalled one-way traffic will be necessary. No full road closures will take place. The safety and convenience of the travelling public are of utmost importance and every effort will be made to ensure that all temporary road signs, cones, flag operators and speed controls are maintained and are effective, and that courtesy is extended to the public. The contractor will make use of approved methods to control the movement of equipment and vehicles, so as not to constitute a hazard on public roads.
The public is requested to be patient and exercise caution when using the road.
