Vehicle Impoundment Centre Opens in Maitland

The Department of Transport and Public Works, in collaboration with the City of Cape Town and the Department of Community Safety, opened the Maitland Vehicle Impoundment Centre on 21 June 2012.

This facility will increase the capacity for impoundment in the area, which was previously limited to the Ndabeni Vehicle Impoundment Centre.

Since 2010, the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Robin Carlisle, has promulgated three impound facilities, including the George facility opened in 2011 and the Overstrand and Maitland facilities opened in June 2012.
