Temporary closure on N1 between R300 and Durban Rd

18 January 2017

The N1 inbound between the R300 and Durban Road will be closed from 19:00 on 21 January 2017 until 8:00 on 22 January 2017.

The closure is required in order to safely remove overhead road sign gantries as part of the Department of Transport and Public Works project to extend the third lane on the N1 from west of Durban Road to beyond the Old Oak Interchange. The timeslot was chosen to minimise the negative impact on road users.

Traffic will be diverted as follows during this period:

Inbound carriageway:

  • Exit N1 on Exit 28 - M100 Brackenfell West
  • Turn right at the traffic signals onto Brackenfell Boulevard
  • Turn right onto Frans Conradie Drive
  • Turn right onto Old Oak Road
  • Turn left onto Durban Road
  • Turn right onto the Durban Road inbound onramp.

Kuils River Road (R300) inbound:

  • Exit R300 on Exit 29 - R101 towards Brackenfell
  • Turn left at the traffic signals onto Old Paarl Road
  • Turn right onto Bill Bezuidenhout Avenue (M30)
  • Turn left onto Durban Road
  • Turn right onto the Durban Road inbound onramp.

Traffic signals on the alternate routes will be adjusted to accommodate the additional traffic. The alternate routes will be signposted.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for your patience in the interest of providing better, safer roads for all.
