Obstruction on the R27 near Atlantis

14 July 2016

A truck has dropped small bits of steel on the R27. It would appear that the truck was travelling northwards towards Atlantis.

Provincial Traffic Services are assisting the contractor at present to control the traffic while they attempt to clean up the road. We currently have a rad block just north of Atlantis where the motorists are stopped and informed of the situation on the road. If they proceed, they use it at their own risk and must exercise extreme caution.

The R27 is currently been closed at Melkbosstrand intersection to Duynefontein intersection. Vehicles are being duiverted through Duynefontein. The mechanical broom is trying to clear this section of the road before dark.

It is taking long with the broom, as the flat pieces are not easily displaced.

We apologise for the inconvenience.
