Launch of Operation “Zero” Easter Enforcement Plan

Donald Grant, Minister of Transport and Public Works, Safely Home and the Department’s Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement Services, will launch the Operation “ZERO” Easter Enforcement Plan at the N1 Huguenot Tunnel on 2 April 2015.

The plan aims to achieve zero fatalities or serious injuries on identified high-risk routes over the upcoming Easter period.

As part of the launch, Minister Grant will join Provincial Traffic Services and other law enforcement partners, in a road block operation on the N1 – Sonstraal (approaching the tunnel) and will interact with motorists on safety-related matters as they travel to their various destinations.

The launch will be attended by our road safety partners including Lt. General Arno Lamoer, Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Services (SAPS), Adv. Gesie van Deventer, Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality and representatives from SANTACO.
