2 June 2021

On 1 June 2021, the Western Cape Provincial Sport Confederation (WCPSC) received a welcome financial boost from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS). The handover was hosted at the department’s head office  in Cape Town.

Chief Director of Sport and Recreation, Dr Lyndon Bouah said that the day was special, as the partnership DCAS has with the confederation is a very important one. He also thanked the confederation with all their assistance in developing and promoting sport within the province.

During her keynote speech, Minister Anroux Marais spoke of how important sport is within our communities, especially during this time. “It is important not only for our physical well-being, but our mental well-being as well” said Minister Marais. The handover ceremony saw Minister Marais hand over R 6 385 882 to the confederation.

President of the Western Cape Sports Confederation, JP Naude said that one of the joys of being involved in the confederation is being able to work with DCAS. “We have come a long way with the DCAS. The last few years have been a tremendous amount of bridge building. The good relations we have the comes from good communication, good administration, and trust. The funding that we receive goes a long way towards the promotion of sport and we are truly grateful for the departments contribution.”

DCAS continues to support sporting organisations across the province to safely continue their activities.
