Our mandate
The economic challenges facing South Africa and the Western Cape are enormous.
The Chief Directorate: Integrated Economic Development Services (IEDS) is working hard and relentlessly in the pursuit of an inclusive economic growth that benefits all in the Province.
We are working diligently to support businesses, strengthen ecosystems in all regions of the Province, and improve the enabling environment to make it easier to do business through interventions that grow the Province.

Our initiatives
Municipal Economic Services
The main purpose of the Municipal Economic Servies (MES) Unit is to promote economic growth and development of regional and local economies in partnership with key stakeholders by aligning LED initiatives with Government programmes.
Red Tape Reduction
The Red Tape Reduction Unit (RTRU) has a mandate to reduce red tape in the Western Cape. It fulfills this mandate by improving the business environment and reducing the regulatory burden on businesses through improved legislation, processes, and communication.
Enterprise Development
The Enterprise Development (ED) Unit is there to support and promote development of business enterprises.
