Overview

The Cape Technology and Innovation Ecosystem Report 2025, led by UVU Africa in partnership with the Western Cape Government, Wesgro, and the City of Cape Town, provides a comprehensive research initiative benchmarking Cape Town and the Western Cape’s innovation landscape. This research examined key areas within the technology and innovation ecosystem to identify opportunities as well as areas of improvement to foster a thriving ecosystem based on the current situation in the market. 

The resulting report maps the region’s startups, support organisations, talent pipelines, and policy environment, comparing Cape Town to leading African tech hubs such as Lagos, Nairobi, and other leading African centres with the intent to equip stakeholders with knowledge to about the province’s tech sector competitiveness.
