Why was Our Pride developed?

The project was developed to provide a human settlement comprising of mixed use residential housing opportunities and integrated living.

What will Our Pride Deliver?

The development has already delivered 600 Breaking New Ground (BNG) opportunities and 221 Financed Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (FLISP) opportunities. All the BNG and FLISP opportunities have been occupied.

A further 138 serviced plots formed part of the project will now be developed for sale on the open market.

Who will benefit?

Anyone who is willing to pay the cost of the open market units can benefit. There will be no subsidies offered and they will be sold at market value. Potential buyers will need to arrange their own finance.

How will opportunities be allocated?

The open market opportunities will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

When will construction start?

The developer still needs to be appointed, and construction is anticipated to start before the end of 2015.

Who will represent the community?

The units will be developed and sold for the open market and therefore no community structures will be required.

What about Our Pride Phase 2?

Our Pride Phase 2 will deliver 211 Institutional subsidy houses. The houses will be developed by the Cape Town Community Housing Company (CTCHC), and will be for residents of Eerste River. Qualifying beneficiaries will be drawn off the City of Cape Town’s housing list, and will need to pay off a loan over a minimum period of 20 years. Construction is planned to begin in January 2015 and be completed by June 2016.
