An information pamphlet of the methodology, results and discussion of the anonymous HIV survey carried out in selected public health antenatal clinics in the Western Cape. The survey forms part of the National Annual HIV antenatal survey that has been conducted by the Department of Health for over a decade.
There is currently an ongoing outbreak of RVF affecting sheep, goat and cattle farms within Free State (FSP), Northern Cape (NCP), Eastern Cape (ECP), Western Cape (WCP), North West (NWP), Gauteng (GP) and North West (NWP) provinces. The majority of Rift Valley Fever cases reported are people who had direct contact with infected livestock through work-related exposure: farmers and farm workers, animal health workers, abattoir workers and meat inspectors.
