DESCRIPTION: The objective of the Co-operative Development programme is focused on creating the environment and opportunities for co-operatives to participate in the economic activities of the Province.
 
The project seeks to:
  • Promote the development of economically sustainable co-operatives that will significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth.
  • Increase the competitiveness of the co-operative sector so that it is better able to take advantage of opportunities emerging in national and international markets.
  • Promote greater participation by residents of the Western Cape, especially those in rural areas, women, persons living with disability and youth in the formation of and management of cooperatives.
The programme offers:
  • Training
  • Support towards the acquisition of assets for rural-based co-operatives
  • Implementation of processes to improve productivity
