Crime Prevention Initiatives with Youth during December 2016 School Holiday
THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SAFETY INVITES RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS TO APPLY FOR FUNDING FOR YOUTH SAFETY PROMOTION PROGRAMMES DURING THE DECEMBER 2016/ JANUARY 2017 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The Department of Community Safety invites religious institutions who are registered NPOs, to submit proposals for youth safety promotion programmes living in high crime areas. The Department will support these activities at a rate of R50 per day per youth participant, on condition that these activities run for at least 8 hours per programme day, and that at least one meal is provided for each participant every programme day.
Applications must be submitted on the prescribed application form, supplemented by a PowerPoint presentation (maximum 5 slides) introducing your organisation, and its track record in community safety, the programme you envisage, programme objectives, a budget and a detailed schedule of proposed activities. Applicants will be required to present their proposals at a Departmental Review Panel Meeting. The Department may request applicants to participate in further safety promotion activities. Institutions interested in conducting safety promotion activities should complete an application form.
Applications are invited for December 2016/ January 2017 school holidays.
Preference will be given to applications received from the following high crime priority area:
Note: Organisations who have already submitted their applications for the YSRP December 2016/ January 2017 School Holiday programme, during the central application process, will be considered and they do not have to re-apply.
*Applications for funding for the December 2016/ January 2017 school holidays should be submitted no later than Friday, 9 September 2016.
