Minister Marais condemns triple murder in Khaylelitsha and calls for perpetrators to be brought to justice

Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, has strongly condemned the senseless murder of three people in Site B, Khayelitsha, on Saturday evening.

According to reports, two adult men and an adult woman were shot and killed at a residence in Pama Road shortly before midnight. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Minister Marais said, "This brutal attack is yet another reminder of the devastating impact that violent crime has on our communities. Those responsible must be identified, arrested, successfully prosecuted and removed from our communities."

Minister Marais thanked the South African Police Service (SAPS) for deploying additional resources to the area to maintain stability.

"I urge SAPS investigators to utilise all available resources to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are tracked down and brought before the courts. The people of Khayelitsha deserve justice, and the perpetrators must face the full consequences of their actions", Minister Marais said.

Minister Marais also appealed to residents to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing any information that could assist investigators. Even the smallest piece of information may prove critical in solving the case.

"Community cooperation remains one of the most effective weapons in the fight against crime. I encourage anyone with information to report it anonymously through the available reporting channels. Together, we can help ensure that dangerous criminals are removed from our streets", Minister Marais concluded.

Members of the public can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111, submit anonymous information through the MySAPS mobile application, or make use of the City of Cape Town's anonymous tip-off line on 0800 110077.
