Minister Marais condemns triple murder in Gugulethu

Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, has condemned Wednesday’s tragic shooting of five people in Gugulethu.

According to preliminary reports, four armed suspects entered a house in Moletsane Street, New Crossroads on Wednesday 16 July 2025 and opened fire on the occupants, resulting in the death of three men and the injury of another two. Provincial Serious and Violent Crime detectives have launched an investigation and are pursuing those responsible for this heinous act.

Minister Marais said,” The proliferation of illegal firearms and ammunition remains a big contributor to horrific crimes like this. I urge the community to support the South African Police Service in their investigation and report any information that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.”
