Tourism is a major contributor to the economy with GVA of R 17bn and 204 000 formal jobs in the province. Along with addressing the anticipated skills shortage, the growth strategy will prioritise resolving challenges that threaten further advancement of the industry. These include the lack of coordinated destination marketing between all stakeholders and improving accessibility to the region by boosting air access.
