The Mass participation; Opportunity and access; Development and growth (MOD) Programme is the flagship after school programme run by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS).


The Department of Education's (WCED) ePortal is a platform that provides teachers & parents with the necessary online tools and resources to help learners to improve their educational results.


The YearBeyond programme is a partnership between the Western Cape Government and NGOs aimed at improving educational outcomes and encouraging a culture of volunteerism in selected schools.


The Western Cape Government is working with a number of NGO's on our after school programmes across the province.


The Department of Social Development (DSD) provides funding to a number of NGO run partial care facilities offering after school programmes across the province.


Several local authorities run After School Programmes at municipal libraries and sports facilities. The WCG has partnered with some local authorities such as the City of Cape Town and the Drakenstein Municipality.

The Game Changer will result in more than doubling the participation of learners from disadvantaged schools in after school activities, and ensuring regular attendance by significantly improving the attractiveness and quality of such programmes for learners. The target is 112,000 learners participating regularly in quality programmes – 20% of learners in no and low fee schools. This is a joint Game Changer in partnership with the City of Cape Town and a number of NGO’s.
