KANNALAND MUNICIPALITY

First Green Thusong Service Centre

The Kannaland Municipality initiated the establishment of a Thusong Service Centre due to the shortage of permanent service delivery within the Municipal boundaries. The first phase has been completed and consists of offices for the Department of Social Development and the Independent Electoral Commission.

The second phase is under construction and will consist of offices for the South African Social Security Agency and the Department of the Premier: Cape Access.

Ladismith Thusong Service Centre

The Ladismith Thusong Service Centre is 100% green, built with a combination of polystyrene blocks and a concrete filling which provides great insulation. The centre generates its electricity through a solar-power system and supplies electricity back onto the grid.  The environmentally – friendly materials used to build and maintain the building could potentially reduce costs for the departments/ tenants and reduce pressure on the town’s supply. The Ladismith Thusong Service Centre is the first of its kind to be equipped with green technology.

THEEWATERSKLOOF MUNICIPALITY

The Gerald Wright Memorial Hall in Grabouw underwent renovations and was transformed into a Thusong Service Centre.  The centre is still under construction and will be launched soon.

The tenants who will occupy office space at the centre include;
1.    SASSA
2.    CDW
3.    Municipality
4.    Cape Access

The Department of Home Affairs has permanent offices next to the centre. There is also a library next to the centre and a clinic within a 5 km radius of the centre.
