Call for Entries for the 6th Annual Public Sector Innovation (CPSi) Awards

The Minister of Public Service and Administration, Geraldine Fraser- Moleketi will be making a Call for Entries for the 6th Annual Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) Awards 2008.

The CPSI is an initiative of the Minister of Public Service and Administration. It was borne out of the need to build the capacity of the state to deliver public services more effectively. Its objective is to contribute meaningfully to growth and development in South Africa by identifying, nurturing and supporting innovation within the public sector, with the view to improve service delivery.

Since 2003 the CPSI awards has been awarding best practices and innovative projects in the public sector that enhances public service delivery.

The aim of the annual CPSI Public Sector Innovation awards is to:


1. Recognise and reward innovative projects and programmes that are improving service delivery in public service.

2. Promote and encourage innovative thinking in the public sector.

3. Enhance the principles of Batho Pele.

4. Reward projects that improve the quality of life for South Africans.

Entries are welcomed from all the spheres of government, the private sector and Non-Governmental Organisations. The categories are:

  • Public sector innovator of the year (team or individual)

  • Innovative enhancements in the internal systems of government.

  • Innovative partnerships for service delivery.

  • Innovative service delivery institutions.

  • Innovative use of information communication Information technology (ICT) for effective service delivery.

  • Innovative service delivery projects involving South Africa government with other African countries.

The Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) Public Sector Innovation Awards Programme is a demonstration of the CPSI's commitment to unlocking innovation in the public sector and creating an enabling environment for innovative service delivery to flourish.
