2001 Digital Census Atlas

Description:

Statistics South Africa have produced an online atlas illustrating the results of the 2001 census. You can use the digital atlas, to find out national, provincial and local information.

 

For example, you can view:

  • the distribution of languages in the Western Cape (map and statistics)
  • the population density across South Africa (map and statistics)
  • the size of households in the City of Cape Town (map and statistics)

 

Instructions:

To use the Digital Census Atlas you need to select the type of information you would like to view and specify whether you would like to see the information for the whole country or a specific province or a specific municipal area.

 

You can then view the data on a map or as a statistical representation. You can also view the meta-data.
