Premier Zille to Meet National Disaster Management and Others on Water Crisis

Premier Helen Zille will meet National Disaster Management, the South African Police Service (SAPS), the South African Defence Force (SANDF), the State Security Agency and other role players in Cape Town today.

The focus of the meeting will be preparations for, and management of Day Zero (and its aftermath). Premier Zille will also receive a briefing from the various role players in the disaster management team. There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews immediately after the meeting.

Following the PDMC engagement, Premier Zille will begin a series of meetings with various stakeholders in the private sector. The first will be a meeting with the South African Breweries (SAB) management at the brewery in Newlands.

The SAB has indicated its willingness to assist in the bottling and distribution of water drawn from the Newlands Spring. Premier Zille will attend a meeting to discuss the way forward in rolling out this plan.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews immediately after the meeting.
