On Monday, 29 September, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) received a certificate from the Top Women Awards 2014 to acknowledge the strides it has made in gender empowerment.
DCAS was invited to enter the Top Gender Empowered Public Service category earlier this year, after it pre-qualified in the 1st stage. Public and private sector organisations are evaluated for their contribution to gender empowerment. The department was judged the following criteria:
• % of female employees
• % of female management
• Company policies (female specific)
• Skills development (female specific)
• Financial performance
During August, “Women’s Month”, DCAS was notified that it was a finalist in the final round of the awards competition. The certificate was handed over yesterday to the HOD, Mr Brent Walters.
This recognition further endorses the advances DCAS continues to make in its commitment to gender equality and empowerment.
